Description
The Section Manager – Project Controls (ENR - GHI) is responsible for the leadership of the Energy Gas and Heavy Industrial Project Controls for Assistant Project Controls Specialists up to and including Senior Project Controls Specialists. This includes supporting and executing business strategy, developing high-performance teams, and promoting the Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission.
Project Controls
Lead, train, and manage all aspects of the ENR-GHI Global Practice Project Controls assignments for all Assistant Project Controls Specialists up to and including Senior Project Controls Specialists.
Coordinate and interface with the ENR-GHI Global Practice and Project Controls Managers within ENR-GHI Global Practice.
Develop and coordinate section objectives and requirements with CDB and ENR-GHI Senior Management.
Interpreting and establishing policies, procedures, and strategic goals of organization.
Advance and develop department processes to increase overall project execution, specifically those to increase construction efficiency, as it pertains to schedule, progress, and cost management.
Serve as the technical advisor and provide senior-level input and evaluation on Project Controls projects company wide.
Prepare management summary reports to communicate the status of projects to Senior Management.
Partner effectively with Regional Office Project Controls staff to ensure that consistent ENR-GHI Project Controls procedures are implemented company-wide.
Ensure efficient, cost-effective utilization of Project Controls staff including Assistant Project Controls Specialists up to and including Senior Project Controls Specialists.
Help facilitate and support Project Controls Managers with all section cost functions, including cash flows, cost forecasting, cost control, change management and cost analysis.
Help facilitate and support Project Controls Managers with all section planning, and scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, analysis, and ongoing recommendations for improvement.
Prepare various Project Controls plans and reports, financial summaries, and related activities for Senior Management.
Other duties assigned by Senior Management.Coordinate and provide guidance with Burns & McDonnell subsidiaries effectively.Communicate effectively with all levels of Burns & McDonnell Management.
People
Establish and maintain a culture of integrity, character, and high values within the section.
Work with Human Resources to identify, interview, and select candidates.
Partner with Human Resources to identify development needs for Project Controls staff and oversee development efforts.
Effectively manage performance of ENR-GHI Project Controls staff for the Staff Assistant Project Controls Specialists up to and including Senior Project Controls Specialists
Organize, lead, and conduct the annual performance appraisal process for team members.
Participation in recruitment efforts for Project Controls needs company-wide.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Minimum 5 years related professional experience in design and/or project management.
Experience in Project Cost Controls on direct hire construction projects preferred.
Experience managing a Project Cost Controls team preferred.
Field construction cost management experience on a direct hire project preferred.
Experienced in Project Controls Cost management on Design Services through EPC projects preferred.
Experience with Project Cost Controls management on large and complex EPC projects preferred
Demonstrated ability to develop and interface with international project setup and cost control preferred.
Demonstrated ability to interface and lead cost efforts across different Global Practices that interface and partner during execution.
Demonstrated ability to interface, coordinate, troubleshoot with Finance and Accounting teams.
Must have experience leading, managing, and developing a successful project control team.
Experience in conceptual up-front planning preferred.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
Must be an expert user in Oracle Primavera P6.
Must be proficient in the use of basic computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point).
