Position Summary
Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Educational Database Specialist focused on supporting the clinical and administrative leadership of the Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) and Graduate Medical Education (GME) departments. This position will have a dual reporting structure with daily management and project priorities being defined by the Vice Dean of Academic affairs and technical guidance provided by the Assistant Director of the Enterprise Analytics team. This is to assure that all assigned projects follow the development lifecycle and data governance policies defined by the Enterprise Analytics team.
The medical education enterprise at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University includes both Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) and Graduate Medical Education (GME). The Stony Brook UGME department provides support, oversight, and resources for medical students admitted to the Renaissance School of Medicine, and includes responsibilities to report and track data for planning and for reporting to oversight agencies such as the University, SUNY, and the accrediting agency. The Stony Brook GME department provides support and oversight for all the graduate medical education programs sponsored by Stony Brook Medicine, including programs based at Stony Brook University Hospitals as well as our affiliated hospitals. It provides onboarding for all residents and fellows when they enter their programs, ensures trainees and programs are aware of and adherent to the appointment and re-appointment credentialing requirements, implements and manages accreditation-related compliance with rules and regulations promulgated by GME accrediting agencies as well as the Joint Commission, the Department of Health, and the organization; ensures an optimal learning environment for trainees, including support for wellness, oversight of duty hours/work compliance, and education in key areas of their training which are not specialty-specific; provides education and support for GME administrative staff and faculty to help compliance and promote career growth.
Duties of an Educational Database Specialist may include the following but are not limited to:
Develop and maintain UGME/GME database tracking metrics agreed upon by UGME and GME offices, Vice Deans for UGME and GME Develop and maintain interface with internal and external data sources to ensure integrity of data and currency of dataWork with UGME and GME staff and leadership to develop and produce reports based on databaseAssist with utilization and management of educational learning and management platforms and development of dashboards/data files to enhance compliance of programs with requirementsInteraction and facility with patient care record platforms to provide approved data to faculty, residents/fellows, and students as required for scholarly projectsProviding data reports with explanation to UGME/GME leadership, RSOM leadership, SBUH and affiliated hospital leadership, to ensure good communication regarding trends and highlights of dataAssist the Enterprise Analytics team with technical projects, integrating data sourced from disparate clinical and administrative applications. Provide technical support across the various production systems used by the Enterprise Analytics team.Work as a core member of the Enterprise Analytics team with the ability to multitask when required based on project plan and business priorities.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree and at least three years' experience in information technology or an Associate's degree with five years IT experienceFamiliarity with database development/management, data visualization platformsExcellent communication skillsExcellent collaboration and teamwork skillsFamiliarity with principles of data governance
Preferred
Experience in educational analytics and assessmentMaster's degree in data science, data analytics, informatics, or related field

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as - $100000-$116000.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,087
