Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Designing, developing, and managing project-specific relational database applications using enterprise (EQuIS), desktop (MS Access) and enterprise (MS SQL Server) database software;Developing comprehensive workflows and metadata to automate compilation of data from multiple sources and serve data to maps, reports and other tools;Compiling, verifying, analyzing, and reporting large and diverse datasets;Designing, developing, and producing data visualization outputs using ArcGIS;Interacting with internal and external providers to coordinate collection and transfer of data to project databases;Collection, manipulation, and analysis of databases and GIS data;Designing GIS projects using ESRI ArcGIS Pro software used to store, visualize, and analyze spatial data;Use and understanding of geographic positioning system (GPS) equipment for data collection;Participation in client-needs analysis; and developing current knowledge of GIS technology and software; andInteracting with internal and external clients to support database management and data visualization for environmental engineering, and geoscience projects.Training: We offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our employees to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.Fieldwork: up to 20%Overnight travel: up to 20%
Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geosciences, GIS, or Geography. (required)Advanced degree (in one of the fields above) and/or certificate in GIS. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
At least 2 years (5+ years preferred) of technical training and experience in database technology and GIS experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and ArcPro. (required)Proficiency with Microsoft Access and Excel. (preferred)Ability to write complex queries and automate routine processes (e.g. VBA and SQL). (preferred)Knowledge of server architecture and web technology. (preferred)Experience with collecting field data with various GPS units, field data collection applications, and the process of downloading and compiling the data. (preferred)Ability to automate processes using scripts (e.g. Python).(preferred)Understanding and use of Gra hic Design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). (preferred)Prior work experience (including internships) in environmental consulting or related industry. (preferred)Knowledge of regional state and federal environmental data regulations, standards, and procedures. (preferred)Knowledge of laboratory analytical data verification and validation processes. (preferred)Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)Preferred candidates will also possess the following professional attributes:Vision and desire to grow a data management and visualization practice in the environmental consulting industry.Ability to talk to and engage clients in business development and willingness to learn new business development skills.
