As an Early Career Rods/Bundles/Cages Process Engineer in Richland, WA, you will be part of the proven team in the Rods, Bundles, Cages and Control Components (RBC) Product Center in the Fuel Business Unit. Typical projects are all aspects of the fabrication of nuclear fuel - this may include tooling, process definition, corrective action implementation, deviation resolution, process qualification and documentation. Activities supported include welding, mechanical fastening, assembly, fixturing, inspection, and packaging of fuel and components. Rods, Bundles, Cages and Control Components manufactures rods, bundle assemblies, control components and assemblies, guide tubes, and cages. The RBC Tech Support Process Engineer prepares documentation and systems for manufacture of these products, and supports operations during the manufacturing process. Responsibilities and duties include:Performs non-routine and varied engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of production floor tasks and resolution of production problems.Development, qualification, and implementation of new manufacturing processes.Identify equipment needs and product design changes to improve cost, quality, and manufacturability.Maintain qualifications for all process equipment.Identify root cause of manufacturing problems and implement corrective actions.Learn and utilize certain key software packages - FARO, LVDT, SAP, ABRS, BAS, and NIMS in execution of production needs.Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.Works on special projects, as directed.Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.This position requires occasional travel.
