Transportation Engineer IVPerforms highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.A day in the life of an Alternative Delivery Construction Maintenance Lead Engineer might include:Leading TxDOT teams and consultant teams during projectsMaintenance activities Review maintenance plans Monitor progress on maintenance activity during projects Coordination with local government on project activity Revenue statement review Manage consultant workload Construction activities Coordination with local government on project activity Negotiating change orders Monitor construction project progress Review of traffic control Construction cost estimating Advise and assist in right of way acquisition Other duties as assigned Essential Duties:Oversees and directs procedural improvements in all areas of the CDA procurement program, including administration procedures, project management and contracting methodologies.Oversees the procurement of CDA projects and development of CDA documents and specifications.Serves as a project manager overseeing consultants performing advanced and complex engineering work.Utilizes project management principles in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for highly complex transportation projects.Develops and/or reviews engineering related documents, correspondence, reports and remediation plans.Ensures facility-related contracts comply with applicable federal and state law, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.Investigates materials failures or fabrication problems; reviews test data and assists in determining cause of failing materials.Monitors contractors' compliance with plans and specifications.Oversees construction and audit records.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Review of traffic control in field.
