Overview
Economists for American Institutes for Research (AIR) to report to our Rockville, MD location and may work remotely. Identify + implement empirical approaches. Develop conceptual frameworks + experimental designs that guide project work. Manage + analyze large-scale data files for research. Apply quantitative techniques to collect + analyze data: setting up the analysis frameworks, designing questions, developing the procedures, reviewing the junior staff. Organize + document analytic results + research procedures. Prepare technical reports + journal articles + present findings. Develop + draft research proposals. Mentor research analysts + manage projects. Serve as client contact for analytical + statistical expertise. Little domestic and international travel may be involved. May undergo background checks. Wage: $125,000 to $145,195 annually. Must have PhD in Economics, Public Policy, or related social science field and 1 year of relevant experience in analytical or statistical research. Also requires skills (1 year experience) in: STATA; analysis of large-scale data sets; design of experiments and quasi-experiments; quantitative research on policy-relevant topics using advanced methods such as fixed effects, regression discontinuity, or instrument variables.
