JOB DESCRIPTION :
(Responsibilities listed below cover some of the significant duties performed, but do not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned.)
Picks, respools, cuts, stages, packages, labels, weighs and ships customer orders.
Picks, respools, cuts, stages orders from customer orders/cut tickets and packages according to customer specifications and/or Draka Specifications.
Addresses customer order.
Loads order onto specified carrier with a goal of maximizing capacity and ensuring proper weight distribution.
Assists in eliminating inventory inaccuracies.
Housekeeping duties - Ensures proper storage of finished goods.
Cleans warehouse - Keeps dock areas and reel storage areas clean and organized.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
Good physical condition.
Ability to lift 25 to 100 pounds.
Physical endurance could be a factor on heavy ship days. Objects handled are normally intermittent.
Above average skill required in forklift driving.
Skill required in operating cutstands.
Precision required in cutting exact desired lengths.
Dexterity required in packaging electrical hardware.
Equipment is simple to operate. Material identification is extremely critical. Knowledge of all plant processes and purchased parts applications is required to detect quality problems. Improper identification of, or the packaging of defective material could result in rework and/or loss of a customer. Basic computer skills required to research inventory quantities.
Procedures are very important, numerous and sometimes complex, but are well defined. Improper packaging or marking of product could result in delay of shipment and/or loss of customer. Some knowledge of a general operating practice is expected.
Understood standard operating procedures, and quality assurance instructions. Ready supervision and precedent guide decisions.
Operating practices are clearly outlined. Initiative must be taken to ensure that each product shipped is packaged and marked in a quality manner representative of Draka’s high standards.
EQUIPMENT USED :
Forklift, banding equipment, stretch-wrap machine, scales, dock boards, air drill, staple gun, nail gun, bolt cutters, pallet jacks, cutstands (payoffs, takeups), respool lines (payoffs, takeups), reel jack, various small hand tools, AS400 PC, calculator.
