The Disability Services Advisor is an active partneron campus and in the Educational Success Center and is expected toengage in problem identification and solution implementation in serviceto students registered with Disability Support Services. In addition,they facilitate the provision of reasonable accommodations forpopulations with disabilities to ensure equal access to the programs,services, and activities of the institution. Recommends and facilitatesreasonable accommodations for populations with disabilities to ensureaccess to the physical, educational, and social activities of theinstitution. They will be available to support regular EducationalSuccess Center operations as needed. UW-STANDARD JOB DESCRIPTION DUTIES:Facilitates the interactive process in collaboration with populationswith disabilities, students, instructors, and staff to determinereasonable accommodations. Provides consultative services to staffregarding appropriate services and accommodations. Conducts intakeassessments, maintains current data records, and determines eligibilityfor disability services. Consults with clinician professionals toevaluate access needs and allocate resources. Provides information andresources regarding legal rights and responsibilities to populationswith disabilities and their support systems. Assists in the developmentof programs and initiatives that promote awareness, sensitivity,advocacy, and competence in ensuring access for individuals withdisabilities. ADDITIONAL DUTIES SPECIFIC TO POSITION: Represent theuniversity at a variety of meetings related to Disability SupportServices. Engage in third party or vendor relationships withinterpreters, captioners, access services, and disability managementsystems. May manage hiring, training, and management of studentemployees working with Disability Support Services. Assists in meetingwith all students regarding General Academic Support, Academic ActionPlans, Retention Initiatives, and Academic Progress Reports.
