Position Summary :
At Applied Materials Photonics Platforms Business Unit (PPB), we are pioneering the manufacturing and commercialization of novel nano-photonic devices for applications in imaging, sensing, and displays. We are harnessing the power of Applied Material’s world-leading material science and nano-fabrication capabilities to enable the next generation of photonic devices.
We are looking for an experienced finance leader to partner with PPB executives in driving profitable growth and implementing infrastructure, systems, and processes needed to scale the business.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with BU executives in delivering business objectives and performance metrics by providing insightful analysis and decision support.
Own P&L, Balance sheet and Cash flows for the BU by driving all aspects of financials including forecasting, budgeting, scenario planning, strategy planning, portfolio prioritization, accounting, policy guidance, audit support, internal controls, and financial modeling.
Partner with manufacturing and supply chain leadership to execute to short term and long-term production capacity, cost, yields and performance targets. Develop and maintain robust unit cost models.
Support contract negotiations and engaged deeply across order fulfillment cycle to optimize market adoption, pricing, margins, and cash flows.
Ensure investments are aligned with long-term strategic growth and profitability commitments and ensure funding is based on observable milestones.
Collaborate with BU stakeholders to implement systems & process enhancement to scale the business operations and increase speed of execution.
Support organic (new product development) and inorganic (Partnerships, Alliances & M&A) programs and present to CFO at the program reviews and M&A committee.
Lead extended finance team to drive finance operating rhythm and meet all management reporting and corporate requirements.
Participate in cross-BU initiatives and global finance initiatives.
Manage and mentor employees in a collaborative team culture and support broader finance employee development initiative.
Key Competencies / Qualifications
High Level Business Acumen and P&L ownership: experience and track record of successful P&L management to achieve business targets; ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; and problem solving, project management, and resourcefulness.

Influencing - ability to impact decisions within own organization, cross-functionally and with different levels of management by leveraging experience and competencies in financial analysis to provide astute recommendations to drive results.
Strategic Vision and Agility - anticipate challenges and consequences of decisions, readily identify and seek solutions, and incorporate them into the organizational plan.
Excellent communication and writing skills, including strong ability to create and present executive level presentations, and the ability to translate and simplify complex information and explain it to non-finance audience.
Capacity Building: experience and proven ability to effectively build organization and staff capacity, setting priorities, developing a top-notch workforce and processes that ensure the organization runs smoothly.
Self-starter with strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines; maintain financial cycle deliverables, identify change and drive items to closure with minimal management oversight.
Strong preference given to candidates with BU CFO experience and/or with component manufacturing industry experience.
BS in Accounting or Finance; MBA or Advanced Degree Preferred.

U.S. Salary Range:
$172,000.00 - $236,500.00
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
