Qualifications
Minimum:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience with electronic research administration tools (online databases, Fastlane and other submission facilities, Internet resources, spreadsheets, complex databases, and website development)
Broad experience in grants and contracts administration, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations.
Demonstrated success in the full range of pre-and post-award non-financial activities, including experience working with investigators across academic disciplines.
Demonstrated organizational skills in handling, directing, and prioritizing multiple and complex assignments/projects and maintaining records.
Proven skills in identifying issues, determining their cause, developing creative solutions, and following through with implementing resolutions.
Preferred:
Ideal candidates will hold or pursue a Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Certified Pre-award Research Administrator (CPRA), or Certified Financial research Administrator (CFRA) certification.
Experience in operating Ellucian/Banner knowledge is preferred.
Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills and critical analyses abilities.
Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently with little direction.
Willingness to participate in professional organizations, including session presentations and workshops.
Exceptional ability to coordinate with administrators, principal investigators, and other university stakeholders.
Job Concepts
Responsible for providing vision, leadership and comprehensive management and oversight of the pursuit and implementation of sponsored programs successfully to support the mission and strategic priorities of the University related to the external funding.
Oversees the activities related to grants and contracts, establishes and directs processes to ensure compliance with state, federal, and private funding agencies and university policy and regulations.
Provides effective leadership, direction, supervision, training, and mentorship to grant personnel.
Monitors and maintains Electronic Research Administration systems as authorized institutional representative for all institutional registrations, user management, proposal submissions, and financial and programmatic reporting.
Monitors and maintains the university's registration with the US System of Award Management (SAM) for annual renewals and user updates to support all federal funding requirements.
Oversees the creating and maintaining Institutional policies and procedures related to sponsored programs.
Maintain knowledge of federal and other sponsor regulations governing grant and contract administration, including Office of Management & Budget Circulars and Federal Acquisition Regulations. General knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies relating to the protection of human subjects, animal welfare, intellectual property, conflict of interest, cost-accounting standards, and other compliance related activities.
Responsible for the oversight of developing and stewarding relevant innovative technologies and practices institution wide as related to external funding.
Supports the activities of the committees for the protection of research subjects, patents and copyright, hazardous materials, internal seed/mini-grant programs, and other campus-wide groups as required.
Supervises the preparation of Sponsored Programs publications and announcements.
Performs other duties as assigned by Chief Financial Office.
