  About OneGoal

OneGoal transforms postsecondary advising and support so that every student can define their own future. Together with our partners, we’re building a movement to close the opportunity gap. We work side-by-side with partner schools and districts to build their knowledge and capacity. The result is more equitable and effective support for all students. Our unique approach, honed over 15 years, prioritizes strong human relationships. And it’s proven to deliver real student impact (https://www.onegoalgraduation.org/impact/impact-results/) . 81% of OneGoal high school graduates enroll in a postsecondary institution, and 73% of those students persist one year after high school graduation. An independent study by the University of Chicago found that OneGoal students are about 40% more likely to earn their postsecondary degrees than students from similar backgrounds. We are looking for individuals to join us in our pursuit of equity.

  The Role

The Director of Postsecondary Partnerships will cultivate networks of champions across an existing portfolio of partners, communicate and engage with Fellows (students) and Alumni enrolled within their portfolio, pursue new and innovative opportunities for partnership across the post-secondary landscape, and develop trainings and workshops for student-facing post-secondary faculty and staff. This will be in service of uncovering and collaboratively working to solve the main barriers impacting enrolled student retention rates, understanding and positively influencing the student experience across specific postsecondary institutions, while ultimately ensuring that our Fellows have a supportive pathway to enroll, persist, and complete their desired postsecondary experience. In this role, you will develop and implement data-informed strategies focused on impacting OneGoal Fellow enrollment and/or persistence across an existing set of partner institutions, identify and onboard new institutional and organizational partners that are mission aligned, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to influence systems level change across the postsecondary landscape.

  You will do this by:

Managing an existing portfolio of postsecondary partnerships to impact enrollment & persistence outcomes (40% of the role)

Build relationships and maintain consistent communication with postsecondary staff (i.e. administrators, admissions, financial aid, and student support staff) across a portfolio of postsecondary institutions to provide Program Directors (PDs), Fellows and internal staff with actionable, up-to-date information on both the institution and Fellow level.

Develop and execute on an annual strategic plan that provides differentiated support and initiatives that lead to stronger retention and enrollment outcomes for OneGoal Fellows at OneGoal Postsecondary Partners.

Develop resources and curate experiences for Fellows across Year One of our program to Year Three in order to increase exposure, knowledge, and awareness of quality postsecondary options, as well as, increase the likelihood of students enrolling and persisting at a OneGoal Postsecondary Partner. This could include, but is not limited to:

Increasing OneGoal’s on-campus presence and engaging with enrolled Year Three Fellows and Alumni during visits to campus to better understand their current experience, direct them to their champions on campus or at OneGoal, and provide real-time support to influence persistence. Identifying existing campus visit opportunities or planning new opportunities for Year One and Year Two Fellows and OneGoal Program Directors to participate in in order to increase knowledge of and exposure to various post-secondary options and offerings.

Coordinating classroom visit opportunities for postsecondary partner Admissions staff to present and work directly with OneGoal Year One Fellows as they build their Best-Fit lists and Year Two Fellows on completion of applications.

Analyze and synthesize trends in qualitative and quantitative data to better understand the current Fellow experiences across your portfolio of postsecondary partners and present existing challenges and high-impact opportunities to key stakeholders across your portfolio of partners and collaborate on strategic solutions.

Identifying new opportunities for partnership across the postsecondary landscape (20% of the role)

Utilize data to conduct a landscape analysis to identify 5-10 highest opportunity 2 & 4 year institutions, certificate programs, programs focused on non-college pathways, and completion support organizations to pursue for partnership across the state of Illinois and the Midwest.

Begin to build a pipeline of at least 5 new partner pursuits and engage with key stakeholders to invest them in our mission and vision, with a goal of securing 3 new partners for our region.

Seek out opportunities to elevate the OneGoal brand and participate or present at local and regional conferences where postsecondary institution staff and stakeholders are the main audience.

Developing and facilitating trainings + support for post-secondary staff and faculty (20% of the role)

Develop a pipeline to identify postsecondary institutions that would benefit from additional training and support for staff & faculty at their institution, specifically focused on equity-minded and culturally relevant practices to increase student belonging and retention.

Collaborate with members of the Post-Secondary Partnerships and Post-Secondary Support team on developing and offering additional training + support for postsecondary staff and faculty across existing partnerships and other post-secondary institutions across the Midwest.

Collaborating and innovating (10% of the role)

Collaborate with regional and national staff (teacher support, secondary partnerships, post-secondary support (Year 3), National Program + Innovation Teams, Data Solutions), committing to an aligned strategy to achieve team and regional outcomes.

Synthesize and package existing post-secondary partnership program offerings in a tiered system aligned with our direct and indirect secondary program offerings to present varied ways and different levels of partnership in conversations with post-secondary institutions.

Engaging in personal learning and support team culture (10% of the role)

Work to achieve meaningful outcomes, contribute to building a strong team and culture, and commit to your own learning and development aligned to our Core Values. The Person

Though the Director of Post-Secondary Partnerships is likely to see himself/herself/themselves in the following examples, these are not requirements. These examples are designed to help you determine if this opportunity aligns with your own passion and purpose.

You believe deeply in our Fellows and their ability to achieve their postsecondary dreams.

You believe that our Fellows face real systemic barriers to achieving their greatest postsecondary aspirations, and that empowering their families, their teachers, and themselves to own their unique path will help them to overcome those barriers.

Your hope is coupled with a strong understanding of college readiness, access, and success research and the systemic barriers that first-generation, low-income, and students of color face in pursuit of their postsecondary goals.

You are excited by the opportunity to apply your knowledge and innovative thinking to ensure OneGoal Fellows have access to and actually engage with various supports they need to be successful in college.

You are an influential relationship builder and ambassador for OneGoal throughout the Chicagoland area.

Your approach to building relationships is not “one size fits all” and you’re consistently prepared to engage and adapt your messaging for diverse audiences across various ages, backgrounds, professions, all in service of transforming postsecondary advising.

Your ability to build strong relationships allows you to influence others across the postsecondary landscape to pursue a strategic course of action, and ensure that our community of districts, high schools, post-secondary institutions, Program Directors, & Fellows see you as an ally and advocate in this work.

You have a genuine curiosity to understand more about the people you meet and strive to bring your authentic self into every space.

You get energy from meeting others and they are inspired when they meet you. When you meet someone, you are able to communicate why our work matters, our organizational values and leave them interested in joining OneGoal’s movement.

You know when and how to engage other key stakeholders that have the insight and positional authority to help you and others overcome obstacles and seize viable beneficial opportunities in a timely way.

You are a puzzle-solver and strategist.

You like to explore and build innovative approaches and have designed new ways of doing things. You do not simply execute pre-existing practices; instead, you thoughtfully evaluate the OneGoal program and identify ways to elevate our program’s effectiveness through partnerships.

Contingency-planning and problem-solving excite you, and working to streamline and improve systems to maximize efficiency in a fast-paced environment within the post-secondary landscape gives you energy.

You are able to structure and process qualitative and quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions from it that impact programmatic strategies, Fellow outcomes, and influence systems-level change.

You see challenges as opportunities to take your critical thinking skills and impact to the next level. You operate with a strong sense of personal responsibility when it comes to solving challenges.

You know that learning is a lifelong habit.

You are always reading a new book or article so that you can keep abreast of the most current trends and research within your field, in order to courageously apply that new knowledge to your workstream, often able to take an idea and quickly put it into practice.

You are eager to develop and facilitate data-informed, culturally relevant, and equity-minded learning sessions for adult learners and operate with the belief that all great practitioners can achieve more with additional resources and support.

You constantly strive to learn from and share learnings with your teammates, no matter your current knowledge or experience, and are eager to work across functional teams to ensure success of the postsecondary partnerships team.

You enjoy collaborating with external stakeholders to learn from their work, identify challenges or opportunities, and leverage interactions to share recommendations, solutions, or best practices.

You proactively seek feedback, prioritize listening to understand instead of listening to respond, and act on feedback as necessary, all because you seek to be the best version of yourself for Fellows, Program Directors, and partners.

You are committed to diversity and inclusion.

You seek to understand and celebrate the unique identities of the individuals with whom you interact; you advocate for and elevate the voices of marginalized people and communities especially those from which our Fellows come; you interrogate your own understandings, bias, and privilege and reflect on how they play out in your work.

You see becoming a more equitable and inclusive educator as a lifelong journey and regularly pursue opportunities that will cause you to reflect, learn, and grow.
