This position is an "at-will" appointment, exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules and the Fair Labor Standards Act overtime requirements.Position PurposeThis position leads a dynamic and talented team with bold vision for interdisciplinary media learning and astutely deploys media assets for highest impact. Leading this area requires diplomacy, strategy, planning, supervision, and operational management to inspire the team to deliver excellence. People are our most valuable assets; the position champions professional development so that media staff continually enhance essential skills promoting anti-racism, equity, and inclusion in media learning. The incumbent allocates media learning resources in alignment with college goals for equity, inclusion, and belonging.About Media ServicesApproximately one third of Evergreen students are low-income, one third are the first in their family to attend college, one third identify as people of color, twenty percent report a disability, and fifty percent identify as LGBTQAI+. We encourage all students to show up with their full selves, to learn in collaboration, and to explore media as a knowledge practice. As part of the Library, Media Services supports media learning across the disciplines, with a secondary mission to support media production (principally, but not limited to, digital printing and event PA/AV/streaming/recording). The Library has recently made significant investments in audio studios and supports a vibrant curriculum in electronic music, recording, and mixing. Facilities improvements in photography are on the near horizon, as are hardware updates in our multimedia lab. In the planning stages: new curriculum in documentary/field video, with long-term aspirations for our video studios.
