About Director of Maintenance

  General Description:

  The Director of Maintenance Operations plans, directs, controls, and monitors all aircraft maintenance and support programs to ensure satisfactory completion of experimental and developmental test program objectives. Responsible for the supervision and oversight of all maintenance and logistics operations supporting approximately 60 rotary and fixed wing aircraft; establishes and modifies maintenance assignments to meet requirements of flight and test schedules as determined by the customer. Reports to the Program Manager and acts as the Program Manager in his absence. Must be customer oriented. Allocates resources to meet ever-changing mission requirements. Ensures the maintenance organization is not overly tasked with augmentation duties outside maintenance functional areas. Plans and directs project execution; monitors and develops reports on progress. Manages all maintenance, PC, QC, and aviation logistics personnel. The Director of Maintenance Operations serves as a Maintenance Manager for the AS9110 QMS and assures that all aspects of the Quality and Safety Programs are understood and complied with and that all AS9110 standards are met or exceeded.

  Duties:

  Former aviation maintenance officer or senior military enlisted soldier from the Army Aviation community preferred or equivalent related senior civilian with aviation project manager experience and extensive knowledge of intermediate level aviation maintenance; this manager must be a customer oriented leader and management expert with extensive skill in aircraft maintenance / maintenance management.Able to perform duties as Program Manager in his absence.Effective leadership of maintenance teams and oral / written communication skills are critical.Supervises required aircraft airworthiness inspections appropriate to both military and civil aircraft. Ensures that all assigned aircraft meet the appropriate military/civil airworthiness standards.Supervises the preparation of all required forms, certifications, and reports regarding the aircraft, their availability and associated ground support equipment as defined in the contract.Implements and supervises a training program to upgrade skills, train new personnel, train on new equipment, and cross train personnel.Supports and administers preventative maintenance and corrosion control programs for all aircraft and all assigned GSE and GFP; implements and administers an active FOD Program for work areas and flight line areas.Supports and supervises an active safety program in conjunction with Aviation Safety Official.Develops and administers flight and ground procedures IAW AR 95-20; ensures that all procedures and policies are followed in the performance of maintenance and repair functions on the customer's aircraft.Ensure that site maintenance facilities are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.May be required to travel on company business.Attends daily meetings with customer as required to plan inspections and aircraft availability; prepares reports and conducts briefings as required.Assures proper utilization of personnel to ensure aircraft are inspected and returned to service in a timely manner.Coordinates with second and third party vendors for paint, interior upgrades, enginechanges, and maintenance inspection as required. This also includes contact with technical advisors for specific guidance on required damage repairs.Coordinates logistics to ensure timely ordering ofrequired repair parts anddistribution to subordinate sites as well as special tooling for those specific sites. Ensures TBO parts and consumables are placed on order well in advance of aircraft arriving for inspection.Manages Production Control, Quality Control, and Aviation Logistics supervisors and facilitates their daily requirements.Coordinates with other customer sites for aircraft arrivals and inspections as well as parts orders for those aircraft.Ensures subordinate sites have the proper training, tools, parts and GSE equipment.Must be an expert in leading employee recruiting efforts, manpower management, safety, environmental compliance and quality control applicationsEnsures that site Quality Control program is administered and operating in accordance with service guidance.Must be able to communicate objectives effectively to lead personnelThorough knowledge of DCMA requirements for contract administration requiredResponsible for ensuring that all AS9110 QMS policies and procedures are understood by employees and complied with at all levels. Assures that all maintenance required is carried out IAW all organizational, customer, and authority requirements.Performs other duties as assigned by Program ManagerEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  Must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field and possess 10 years aviation maintenance supervisory experience; or have an Associate's Degree in field and possess 15 years aviation maintenance experience; or have a high school diploma or GED and possess 20 years aviation maintenance experience.Candidate must be a graduate of advanced military aviation maintenance management course, preferably the Army Maintenance Manager's Maintenance Test Pilot Course. Candidates that are not graduates of the MM-MTPC must be an ANCOC graduate and possess an FAA Airframe and Powerplant License (AandP), and current Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate.Must have verifiable experience and a proven ability to determine requirements, personnel, repair parts, time allocation, and facility requirements necessary to perform maintenance actions performed at a complex multi-function aviation facility.Must have an extensive working knowledge of both military and general aviation aircraft and maintenance principles.Minimum of 10 years supervisory experience required.Must have verifiable experience with maintenance requirements at the organizational, intermediate, and depot levels (Field and Sustainment); requires thorough experience in maintenance of aircraft, log books and other maintenance records.Must be able to handle complex administrative and technical details and perform duties as the Program Manager in his absence. Must possess effective communicative skills, both oral and written, to deal with corporate and customer concerns.Must have a proven history of reliability and demonstrated initiative with proactive supervisory management skills as an aircraft mechanic and supervisor.Will require a security clearance in the performance of duties.Must be a US citizenMust be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
