About Director of Development

  The Director of Development will work to develop and emerge the fundraising and resource-collection strategies and implementation for Roanoke College. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic vision for fund development, a track record of leading a team to achieve ambitious goals, and the ability to thrive in an energetic, student-centered, and highly collaborative environment. Job Responsibilities: • Oversee fundraising initiatives and capital campaigns. • Build relationships with potential donors and sustain positive relationships with existing donors. • Collaborate with other teams within the institution to align the fundraising strategy with the overarching goals of the college. • Develop donor recognition programs and manage all written and verbal correspondence with donors. • Track fundraising efforts and provide progress reports to senior executives. Desired Qualifications: • Proven experience as a Director of Development or in a similar executive role at a nonprofit or educational institution. • Strong understanding of the best practices in fundraising and resource development. • Outstanding leadership abilities and collaborative spirit. • Exceptional communication skills and proficient in managing donor relationships. • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field. Nice-to-Haves: • Masters degree in related field. • Experience working in a liberal arts college setting. • CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) credentials. • Demonstrate a link or affinity towards the core values and mission of Roanoke College. • Experience with donor database systems and digital fundraising platforms.
