About the role:Gartner is searching for a Director, Team Manager to join our global Peer and Practitioner Research team in the Supply Chain practice. This group is responsible for investigating, analyzing and documenting insightful research findings that will change how senior supply chain executives approach their most strategic challenges. This team manager will directly lead a team of 5-7 researchers, with potential to grow their scope and responsibilities. They will develop and coach their team to master their research craft with the end goal of impacting the success of senior supply chain executives.What you will do:Develop research mastery in your team: Provide coaching/training/feedback to support your team's ability to conduct and extract teachable insights from both secondary and primary research. Teach the application of qualitative and quantitative research methods as laid out in Gartner's research processes, methods, and tools.Drive creation of unique, insightful research: Guide your team to creating insights that will change how supply chain leaders manage their function by helping them recognize when/where conventional approaches have failed supply chain leaders and identify best practices that would drive superior outcomes.Enable teams to write and publish high quality content: Apply Gartner's Content Essentials, in combination with your own expertise, to guide teams through Gartner's Content Production Process to produce deliverables with compelling writing and illustrations that make Gartner's advice relevant and actionable.Coach your team to successful internal and external interactions: Use Gartner training and personal expertise to help your team have two-way value interactions with Gartner clients and effectively collaborate across a diverse range of roles and personalities within Gartner.Manage your team members to personal and professional success: Manage team members' professional success by providing coaching, mentoring, constructive performance feedback, and networking contacts that will help team members build out their professional knowledge, skills and abilities. Provide an engaging and welcoming work environment that helps them find personal satisfaction in their work and career development by connecting them to new internal and external opportunities that align with and reinforce their personal interests.What you will need:Bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.5+ years of research management experience.Ability to teach others how to gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to create unique insights that provide supply chain executives with new ways to solve management problems.Objective approach to providing feedback and assessing performance while also being receptive to constructive feedback in a highly iterative research environment.Strong oral and written communication skills, with particular attention developing logical, intuitive narratives that teach how to apply research findings.Competence to meet deadlines, multi-task, and manage work under ambiguity (e.g., changing factors, limited information) - and to coach others to do the same.Ability to navigate a highly matrixed, remote work environment with colleagues across the globe by proactively forming networks.Prior experience managing a high-performing team, formally or informally.Successful leadership of strategic initiatives.#LI-MG2Who are we?At Gartner, Inc.
