About the Department
The Clinical, Medical and Regulatory (CMR) department at Novo Nordisk is one of the most diverse and collaborative groups within the organization. From health-care-provider interactions and developing and implementing regulatory strategies with the FDA to providing medical education and collecting data to support efficacy and new product development, CMR is involved. Clinical Data Science and Evidence (CDSE) is part of the CMR department and consists of three teams: Health Economics & Outcomes Research Evidence Synthesis & Strategy (HEOR-ESS), Real-World Evidence (RWE), and Clinical Data Analytics and Modeling (CDAM). The mission of the HEOR-ESS team is to develop the evidence generation plans, collaborate with RWE and Modeling teams on execution of the research, synthesize the results, and enable dissemination of the evidence to the stakeholders. The Position
The individual in this role is responsible for developing HEOR Evidence Strategy. The HEOR Evidence Strategy Director partners with commercial and medical functions to develop evidence and insights generation plans aligned with drug development and commercialization strategy for the assigned assets. The incumbent collaborates with RWE and Modeling counterparts who lead the execution of studies in the approved evidence and insights generation plans. Upon completion of research, the individual partners with an HEOR Evidence Synthesis Director to help drive its incorporation into customer-facing communication materials, both proactive and reactive. Other responsibilities include leading HEOR input into policy issues and value assessments of assigned products by external entities, , getting budget endorsement,. This is a highly visible role with the expectation of strong HEOR expertise, cross-functional leadership, seamless collaboration, and integrity.
Relationships
This position reports to the Senior Director, HEOR-ESS.
The Director, HEOR-ES, works very closely with CDSE counterparts and various functions including Market Access and Public Affairs, North American Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Marketing and Sales, and other key internal stakeholders across Global and North American organizations. In the execution of specific projects, the Director, HEOR-ES, works within the cross-functional project team to provide strategic insight to research. Essential Functions
Collaborates with RWE and Modeling counterparts on the execution of approved EGPs and serves as a reviewer/approver of study protocols
Provides input into Product Development Plans (PDP) to the Global organization to ensure that the US market requirements are incorporated in drug development programs
Collaborates cross-functionally to lead HEOR input into policy issues and value assessments of assigned products by external entities
Champions raising organizational awareness of EGPs and resulting HEOR & RWE evidence to help internal stakeholders understand the value of CDSE to Novo Nordisk
Develops deep understanding of the needs and perspectives of internal stakeholders who utilize RWE, economic models, and rapid data analytics
Evaluates and articulates the impact of CDSE deliverables on addressing business challenges and needs of the enterprise.
Acts as a cross-functional leader who skillfully navigates the highly matrixed environment and drives innovative ideas to continually address business challenges
Physical Requirements
Up to 20% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
Master’s degree required, PhD/MD/PharmD degree in appropriate healthcare-related field (heath economics, epidemiology, outcomes research, public health, business/health services research, biostatistics, medicine, biomedical sciences) preferred
Working knowledge and experience in conducting health economics, health services research studies, real world research and the evaluation of health care interventions
5+ years of experience in health economics, outcomes research, pricing, reimbursement, medical affairs, and/or portfolio analysis, preferably with at least 2 years in the pharmaceutical industry, payor or healthcare
Demonstrated knowledge of health care systems in the U.S., including managed care organizations, integrated health systems, PBMs, Medicare, and Medicaid
Strong knowledge of healthcare big data and applications
Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed scientific publications, dossier development, and/or strategic, customer-focused HEOR communication tools development
Experience in preparing, reviewing and presenting materials to drug formularies and other customers strongly preferred
Demonstrated record of outstanding written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with a track record of successfully interacting with and presenting to key customers
