Position: Director Support Counselor
The Direct Support Counselor is responsible for the delivery and implementation of long-term supervision, support and clinical services to a population of chemically dependent adults with co-occurring and mental health problems. The DSC serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Job Scope:
Initial and ongoing screening of resident and resident property in accordance with unit procedure.
Facilitate group counseling formats on time and in a professional, ethical and caring manner and documents client’s progress through the use of group notes.
Supervise clients in self-medication (under supervision).
Communicate all pertinent information, incidents and emergencies using the appropriate system including the SAC communication log, incident reports and 24 hour on-call supervisor.
Provide crisis interventions and follow up including documentation of the incident, accident and/or elopement reports.
Overall supervision and management of client population in the facilitation of the daily house schedule.
Other duties as assigned.
Use agency vehicles (15-passenger van, or car) to provide transportation to required appointments.
Qualifications
CASAC-T; CASAC, or higher preferred.
1 year of experience working with clients with substance abuse disorders.
1 year of experience working in in an OASAS funded facility a plus
Commitment to providing quality services and outcome driven performance measures.
Excellent organizational and crisis management skills, ability to prioritize competing demands, familiarity with treatment planning.
Act as liaison to community-based service providers
Strong communication skills, ability to navigate multiple service providers for each client
Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to program planning.
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
Position Status
This is a full-time position with the following schedule
Sunday 8am - 4pm
Monday 8am - 4pm
Tuesday 4pm - 12am
Wednesday 4pm - 12am
Thursday 4pm - 12am
For this Brentwood, Long Island position, the expected base rate is $19 - $21.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and outside in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to travel among assigned sites and locations as needed.
