DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:POSITION SUMMARY:The Digital Navigator supports the efforts of Goodwill SWPA, PA 211 Southwest, and United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania to create a Digital Navigator Network that will work to bring equitable access to internet, devices, and skills training for community members. This position will initially assist individuals via phone through the PA 211 SW system, but may transition to in-person, email, text, video chat, and/or other communications that work best for the learner.
The Digital Navigator will assess callers' needs to determine appropriate internal and external resources. This includes providing basic technical support and digital skills training related to internet services, computer and device characteristics, and common online services and applications. This position will collaborate closely with United Way and its Digital Navigator Network partners to share resources, best practices, and address issues.
Duties include but are not limited to: * Maintain up to date knowledge of local services and resources to identify available service opportunities in the digital inclusion space, including affordable internet, affordable devices, and/or digital skills training. * Provide basic technical support and digital skills training relating to internet services, computer and device characteristics, and online services and applications via phone, virtual, and in-person instruction. * Evaluate participants' basic digital skills proficiency through use of assessments, participant interviews, and observations. * Promote Digital Navigator Network and digital inclusion resources at relevant community events as needed.
Status: Full-timeExternal Hiring Range: $37,960.00 up to $39,478.40/yearRetention Incentive: $1500.00 after successful completion of 6 months employmentSchedule: M - F some evenings as required with appropriate noticeTravel Required: Yes, travel to Goodwill locations in Southwestern Pennsylvania on occasion is required.
QUALIFICATIONS: * High School Diploma or GED AND 4 years of experience OR * Associates Degree AND 2 years of experience OR * Bachelors Degree
Required Degree(s): Must be in social services, human services, psychology, rehabilitation science, or a related field.Required Experience: Experience locating community and social services for at risk and/or vulnerable population preferred. Experience with digital literacy preferred. Instruction or facilitation required.
REQUIRED CLEARANCES, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS: * Candidates are expected to provide current, valid clearances (Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprints, and PATCH) prior to first day of employment. * Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
