  THE POSITION

  DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  In the role of a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic, your main responsibility will be to perform skilled automotive and diesel mechanic work at a journey-level. You will be accountable for maintaining and repairing both gasoline and diesel engine vehicles, as well as heavy equipment within the forest district. Your tasks will include skilled maintenance and repair work on a diverse range of cars, trucks, tractors, and various construction and maintenance equipment and parts. Moreover, you will also be responsible for conducting highly skilled diagnostic and repair work on diesel engine equipment, such as engine and transmission overhauls, parts rebuilding, and fuel injection systems.

  Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  Full-time employment.

  Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  Voluntary overtime possible.

  Travel as needed.

  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

  QUALIFICATIONS

  Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  Successful completion of the commonwealth’s Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program;or

  Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment;or

  An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  Special Requirement:

  This position requires possession of an active Class A Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement and no manual transmission restriction.

  Post Employment Requirement:

  This position requires an active Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification within the employee’s probationary period of six months.
