Chicago design company is seeking a new designer to join their growing team:
-This role is within nontraditional, interior architecture/architectural products: Backgrounds within graphic design or UX/UI design are not applicable- must have program proficiency in Rhino 3D and experience with construction documents.
Job Description:
Develops drawings and documentation through the lifecycle of projects from Design to Engineering and stewards the drop into Production
Designers have shared ownership of projects from assignment through to install, ensuring successful implementation at every stage and clean handoffs
Communicates schedule and project needs to the DM (Design Manager) to ensure accurate loading and scheduling, while also managing their own schedules and project timelines
Project:
Verifies product layout and use, communicating with the various project and process leads to ensure accuracy
Develops custom design solutions and product for custom and boutique projects in tandem with the DM
Architectural Designers are makers who validate through prototyping all proposed custom solutions and their feasibility for mass manufacture
Involvement in client meetings to discuss feedback and maintain product requirements
Packages the complete product specification for Design, Engineering, and Production
Internal:
Works on internal product development or special projects in tandem with the project or process leads
Follows best practices in digital housekeeping of project files and documentation, ensuring accuracy and organization
Maintains a physical presence and assistance on the Production and Assembly floor at the Gilberts facility as scheduled
Skills & Qualifications:
Must have degree in architecture, architectural technologies, or related field
Graphic design backgrounds are not a fit for this role- Must have 3D experience (utilizing Rhino)
2-5 years experience working in some type of architecture setting
This does not include internship experience or experience not in US standard
Preferred design experience: floor plans layouts, interior design, or rendering
Construction document experience: Reflected ceiling plans (RCPs), construction details, such as millwork details, or ceiling details, schedules, room finishes, door hardware
Rhino 3D and Adobe CC (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) proficiency required
Experience with Grasshopper/Dynamo, Revit/AutoCAD preferred
Visualization skills in VRay, 3DS Max is a plus
Must be immediately local- this is an in office position
Must have valid driver's license and SSC/ Work authorization
