Design Engineering Manager
The Design Engineering Manager is responsible for leading design evaluations, feasibility analyses, and optimization of Niagara’s Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing [MEP] systems. This position is intended to be a technical resource for major MEP and Building design activities while providing technical expertise and leadership direction on new and existing design-related issues. This position is also intended to define design strategy while leading and developing direct reports.
MEP systems include, but are not limited to: Product Water Processing, Wastewater Processing, Cooling/Chilled Water, High (40bar) and Low (10bar) Compressed Air, Steam Processes, HVAC, Natural Gas Processes, and Bottling/Injection Molding production equipment.
Detailed Description
Leading and developing a team of Engineers to execute solutions for critical business designs
Collaborate with internal departments, plants, and external firms, suppliers, and contractors to achieve Niagara goals and objectives
Facilitate feasibility analyses and utility consumption modeling for line/plant addition projects
Development and review of equipment scope and requirements for line/plant addition projects
Facilitate layout design conversations between top-management and external stakeholders
Evaluate utility system improvement projects and facilitate the justification, design, bid, and execution of upgrades and solutions to plant challenges
Coordinate remote and onsite troubleshooting of plant system challenges, root cause analyses, and implementation of problem-solving solutions
Provide leadership and technical recommendations for MEP and Building design requirements and solutions for issues raised by Niagara-internal customers
Develop design drawings for Electrical, Utility, Piping, or Mechanical bid scope
Definition of Niagara standard processes, equipment, and instrumentation implementation based on industry and engineering best practices
Definition of Niagara standard specifications registry details for equipment materials of construction
Definition of standards for Bid Packages for equipment and contractor services
Development and optimization of utility system control and operation plans
Research and review of new technologies, design opportunities, equipment efficiencies to drive value creation and Niagara sustainability goals
Coordinate onsite project startup support and process adjustment provided to all applicable design engineering areas to ensure ongoing success of plant operations
Facilitate the review of current system operation parameters compared to actual operation with manufacturer’s design to identify areas of deviation for ongoing operator understanding, or further project modification if deemed detrimental to ongoing system operation.
An ideal candidate will be comfortable working between in-office system design and hands-on troubleshooting/analysis on the manufacturing floor, while working directly with contractors, vendors, and other inter-departmental customers.
The position may require 40% travel

Understanding and exposure to fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, electricity, power systems, instrumentation, and process control systems.

Education
Minimum Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related Engineering field
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Engineering Management
Certification/License:
Required: Engineer in Training (E.I.T.)
Preferred: Professional Engineer License

$113,528.00 - $164,616.00 / Yearly
