Overall purpose of role :
Developing and designing products and processes for the powder handling industry. Responsible for designing both standalone products and turnkey systems in line with customer specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out detailed mechanical design work including creating 3D models, manufacturing drawings, layouts and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
Interface with ERP system to produce accurate parts lists and component specifications for all aspects of a customer’s contract.
Maintain existing product library, while improving and developing in line with internal and industry standards.
Evaluate new or existing equipment, with a capability to carry out risk assessments for safety regulations and CE / UKCA compliance.
Ensure equipment is designed to be safe, efficient, and cost effective and highlight all mechanical / technical risks to the Technical Manager / Project Managers.
Liaise with Project Managers, along with other areas of Operations, to clarify the use and application for each design requested, following the process from specification and design to manufacture and testing.
Liaise with customers and suppliers in a courteous and professional manner, ensuring good communication skills to better serve customers.
Ensure documents are maintained, changed, and used in accordance with company procedures.
Ensure by checking, design qualification, and review that designs satisfy the design criteria.
Ensure a safe, organised, and efficient working environment.
Prepare and carry out any tests required to evaluate new or existing equipment.

Skills & Abilities:
Proven experience using CAD Software, particularly Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD
Excellent oral and written communication skills
At least a basic knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel & Outlook
An understanding of engineering processes, with good problem-solving skills
Ability to work within the scope of existing company procedures
Ability to work within tight timescales as dictated by contract schedule
Knowledge & Qualifications :
Demonstrable working experience in a current mechanical design role
Mechanical / Design Engineering degree or equivalent.
Experience and understanding of Sheet metal & fabrication work
Knowledge of powder handling
Structural fabrication knowledge & experience, with some experience with Finite Element Analysis
Working knowledge of pneumatics & electrical systems
Experience with Hazardous area applications (ATEX) would be an advantage, but full training can be given.
Location and any travel requirements :
Matcon Head Office, Evesham, Worcestershire, UK. Occasional travel to customer sites or suppliers may be required as part of the role.
