  Job Description

  This position serves as the Legal Technician responsible for reviewing, preparing, and organizing documentation and files related to legal functions for the Collection Services Bureau, which include the following: requests from the Office of Attorney General (AG), both Lansing and Detroit; various litigation matters, including bankruptcy settlements; determination of Corporate Officer Liability (COL) and/or Successor; Power of Attorney (POA) requests; Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests; and other legal related functions. This position also prepares documentation utilized by Treasury in informal conferences and/or Tribunal Hearings. This position also researches, reviews, and interprets the law associated with above stated legal functions. This position responds verbally and in writing to telephone and written inquiries; provides support to Legal analysts; tracks, and compiles statistical data associated with collection accounts.

  One year of experience performing experienced-level administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

  One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.

  One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.

  One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

  Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

  This position is eligible for remote work up to five days per week; however, selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. Please note that occasional onsite work will be required.

  Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

  The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

  Interviews will likely occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience with Teams is necessary, as instructions and tips will be provided to all candidates scheduled for an interview.

  Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

  Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

  Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
