Summary PATHWAYS INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE These internships, filled under the DeCA Pathways Programs, provide students in high school, college, technical or vocational school, a certificate program, and other qualifying educational institutions with the opportunity to explore federal careers related to their educational career field or career goals as paid employees. Students must meet eligibility and requirements by the announcement closing date. Responsibilities Sales Store Checkers work in a military grocery store. The work is like a cashier or clerk at your local grocery or retail store. As a student trainee, you perform the basic, simple and repetitive checkout functions under close supervision to gain competence and proficiency in: Operating a cash register scanning system to list and total the prices of individual items purchased, Collecting payment and making correct change when required, and Changing register tape, and clearing routine equipment and scanning jams on registers.
