Robert Half is seeking a Legal Assistant/Paralegal with Litigation exp for a prominent Oakland County law firm.
Overview
A litigation legal assistant provides crucial support to attorneys in managing the complexities of lawsuits and legal proceedings. They wear many hats, from meticulous legal research and document preparation to efficient case organization and client communication. As a litigation legal assistant, you'll be an integral part of the legal team, ensuring smooth case progression and contributing to successful outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Legal Research and Writing:
Conduct legal research using online databases and legal resources to find relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.
Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests.
Prepare witness summaries and chronologies of events.
Case Management and Organization:
Maintain and organize case files, including legal documents, evidence, and correspondence.
Calendar court deadlines, depositions, and meetings.
Track case progress and update attorneys on case status.
Prepare trial exhibits and presentations.
Client Communication:
Communicate with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide updates on their cases.
Schedule client meetings and prepare attorneys for client consultations.
Other Tasks:
Proofread and edit legal documents for accuracy and clarity.
Manage attorney calendars and schedules.
Schedule travel and accommodations for attorneys and witnesses.
Perform other administrative tasks as needed
Requirements - Commercial Litigation experience
Electronic File experience required
Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions
Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database
Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents
2+ years of relevant experience
Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information
Conducting routine discovery
