　　Your Specific Responsibilities:

　　Prepares patient, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, prepares materials and assists dentist during dental procedures

　　Takes and records medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients

　　Records treatment information in patient records

　　Exposes dental diagnostic x-rays

　　Performs rubber cup prophylaxis, places dental sealants

　　Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

　　Knowledge of dental equipment, instruments and supplies, basic dental terminology

　　Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.

　　Technical dental assisting skills, organizational and planning skills, self-direction and self-motivation and human relations skills.

　　Ability to maintain accurate records and maintain effective working relationships with other s

　　Ability to frequently bend, kneel, reach and sit or stand for long periods of time

　　Ability to left and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.

　　Qualifications:

　　Minimum:

　　Graduate of a dental assistant program approved by the Florida Board of Dentistry or accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental accreditation

　　Florida Department of Health is required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty is required of the incumbent; includes working in special needs shelter or performing other emergency duties including but not limited to, response to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster man-made or natural.
