The Derivative Margin and Collateral Specialist will work in the Global Derivative Operations area of Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) and will support our Long Only, Liquidity, Alternatives and Merchant Banking/Real Estate Investing businesses. Morgan Stanley Investment Management is a leader in the global investment management business and its Operations Group serves the firm's portfolio managers and associated teams by providing high quality support through excellence in processing, reporting, and management of strategic initiatives.
MSIM Derivative Operations is increasing its support of critical areas impacted by new regulatory requirements and enhanced risk oversight by adding a new team member to its Derivative Margin and Collateral team. This group of professionals manages a variety of global risk control functions within the department including, but not limited to:
> Margin and collateral management for listed and OTC derivatives
> Reconciliation review and resolution
> Account onboarding
> Regulatory and other transformation projects
> Seed Capital Hedging Reporting
The ideal candidate for this role is a person that carefully considers details, understands and focuses on process and control, has sound judgment and problem solving skills, is comfortable asking questions and can work independently while prioritizing multiple, concurrent tasks in a fast paced environment.
Responsibilities
> Daily processing responsibilities focused around margin and collateral management
> Daily reconciliation review and resolution
> Interact with various third party service providers, such as custodians and accountants
> Understand key regulatory changes that impact derivative operations and work with internal teams to ensure regulatory demands are met
> Continually review and improve processes to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness
> Support current business initiatives within the team
> Any other duties as assigned #LI-JO1
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements / Preferences
> Bachelors Degree (Finance, Economics or Accounting preferred) and a minimum of 3-5 years experience in financial services operations or similar role
> A good understanding of the investment industry and various equity and fixed income product types
> Facility with common corporate technology platforms and applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
> Highly degree of organization and an orientation toward strict attention to detail
> Thorough understanding of the legal and regulatory concepts governing client confidentiality
> Demonstrated success working in a high volume, high intensity environment and an ability to get closure on issues promptly
> Proven record of collaborating with a diverse group of colleagues across geographic and functional boundaries
> Excellent oral and written communication skills
> Professional maturity, self-confidence, decisiveness and outstanding business judgment
> Ability to work independently
Role is Hybrid and will require in office attendance 3 days/week.
