Position Summary
Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.
To help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking a level II, Sr- or, Staff-level Data Systems Engineer to develop the 747 Carrier Aircraft Platform for future launch customers & missions. As a 747 Carrier Aircraft Data System Engineer, you will contribute to a small team. This position will focus on architecture modification, design implementation, completion, integration, and testing of the data system in multiple test ranges.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to data & telemetry system architecture, testing, & operation for local and extended range missions
Support flight operations by ensuring data system assets are prepared for flight test
Determine data flow based on customer needs and system capability, advocate for upgraded systems when appropriate
Develop and maintain software tools as required
Develop and support telemetry, network, & data tests as required
Collaborate with instrument engineers, network engineers, data engineers, telemetry technicians as required to accomplish goals
Prepare data system material to present at design reviews and flight readiness reviews
Travel, as needed, to support the company
Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments

Required Qualifications:
Experience in Data, Telemetry, Network engineering in an operational or regulated test environment
Experience with network engineering, TCP/IP, UDP, and creating observable network solutions
Knowledgeable with RF devices such as transmitters, receivers, encoders/decoders, or similar
Knowledge of data acquisition systems and dataloggers
Knowledge of IRIG 106 CH4, Ch 10, CH 7 or other telemetry standards
Excellent written & verbal communication
Ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance. This requires applicants to be US Citizens or Green card holders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Aircraft and/or launch vehicle development experience (such as supporting flight test programs)
RF analysis experience (AGI STK, HFSS, dynamic link analysis, link budget analysis)
Hands-on aircraft build, piloting, and flight test experience
Experience with developing data pipelines using Kafka, MQTT or similar data buses
Experience with stream and batch data processing
Experience developing front end dashboards using Grafana, PlotlyDash, Jupyter Notebooks or similar
Experience with requirements management tools such as JAMA
MCC Console experience
Active TS/SCI security clearance
Required Computer Skills:
Experience with continuous integration toolchains using Jenkins or Bamboo, JIRA, GIT, Unit Testing
Experience with relational, document and time-series databases
Experience with various programming languages, including but not limited to C/C++/C#, Python, RSQL proficiency, NO-SQL experience
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Visio)
Preferred Computer Skills:
Experience with Curtiss-Wright or Safran Data Acquisition Units
Experience with NI LabVIEW and NI DAQmx
Experience with developing microservices
Experience with cluster application development and deployment (Kafka, Docker, etc)
Experience with machine learning tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Level II ($85,400-$123,000): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 2-5 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Sr Level ($104,000-$155,000): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 5-10 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Staff Level ($126,500-$195,400): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 10-20 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience

This position is located in Mojave, CA, though position allows for partial remote/on-site work with 50% minimal on-site time
