A Data Center Building Operations Engineer will be responsible to operate allbuilding systems and equipment safely and efficiently, troubleshootissues, and assist in the hands-on maintenance of those building systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to the following:Operate systems in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with governmentregulations, company policies and standard operating procedures.Perform the installation, maintenance, repair and operation ofmechanical, electrical and power generation equipment and systems to supportthe critical environment.Quickly learn building controls, electrical and UPS systems, utilizing onthe job training, operations manuals and documentation.Perform predictive, planned, preventative and routine maintenance as wellas equipment rounds, and service requests as directed. Perform maintenancein accordance with the JLL Preventative Maintenance Program. Assist with thedevelopment and improvement of preventative maintenance programs,schedules, work instructions, SOP's and operational procedures.Inspect and repair pumps, fans, valves, and motors ensuring properoperation of the equipment and systems.Perform visual and operational inspection of associated equipment andinterpret specifications, blueprints and job standards to perform assignedduties.Determine and/or assist with analyzing and resolving work problems andachieving work goalsMaintain time and production records and customer service requests.Must be comfortable and flexible enough to work with a wide-ranging andchanging scope of responsibilities while adhering to the constraints ofprocedures put in place to minimize the risk for human error.Team player with the desire to foster teamwork to help create a positiveworking environment.Monitor operation and maintain refrigeration, water cooling and airconditioning equipment, boilers, heating, ventilating and hot waterequipment, pumps, valves, piping and filters, other mechanical andelectrical equipmentPerform and/or complete all tenant service requests accurately andexpediently.Complies with all policies and procedures established for the building,including safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials whilemaintaining a clean and safe workplacePeriodically acts as the on-call engineer as requested by supervisor.Actively participate in emergency response procedures, technical and safetytraining programs.Perform all work using the proper safety equipment and in a safe manner.Performs additional job duties as requested.
The Data Center Building Operations Engineer will also assist withimplementation and compliance with JLL's Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
III. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMust have 4+ years of hands-on experience in a datacenter/critical facility, including UPS Systems, emergency generators,switch-gear, and mechanical cooling systems.High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. Training and certificationfrom an accredited trade school or Union apprentice program in HVAC,electronics, electrical is preferred.State and local licensures, where required.Certification as a Universal Technician for CFC's (or within 90 days ofemployment), if required by local jurisdiction.Should be knowledgeable in the safe and proper use of the following tools:ladders, lifts, basic hand tools, voltmeter, manual drain auger,safety goggles, ear protection, and fire extinguisher.Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel, andbusiness applications, such as CMMS and Change Management is preferred.Physical demands described here are representative of those that must be metby an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands andarms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Theemployee must regularly lift a d/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently liftand/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50pounds.The work environment characteristics described here are representative ofthose an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of thisjob. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyexposed to risk of electrical shock, moving mechanical parts and heights upto 30ft. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditionsas well as very cold and uncomfortable heat while inside and out of thefacility. The noise level in the work environment is at times moderately loud.Demonstrated strong verbal/written communication skills.Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.
