About Data Analyst

  Summary This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief of Operations, Superintendent, House Office Buildings (HOB), Assistant Superintendent, Client Services Division. The incumbent collects data and information, develops presentations, conducts research and analyses, and recommends data driven solutions to assist with business process improvements using a range of analytical tools and methods. Responsibilities This appointment is not-to-exceed 13 months. This position is emergency essential - Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations. This position is remote eligible per AOC guidelines. MAJOR DUTIES: Collects data, analyzes trends, and develops charts that enable the organization to make data driven decisions. Participates in data analysis projects using qualitative and quantitative research methods such as interviews, statistical analysis, surveys, site visits and observations. Investigates and resolves any data discrepancies in a timely manner and presents findings to management. Assists in establishing performance metrics and works with other staff members to identify problem areas and potential solutions. Participates in the development of logical business models and relational databases to programmatically prepare data for analysis. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for utilizing a thorough knowledge of and compliance with applicable AOC and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions in managed areas. QUALIFYING ON EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Candidates for the GS-07 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower (GS-05) grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with use of software that automates business processes or task management; Ability to generate reports and monitor performance indicators; and Experience with administrative support; Oral and Written Communication QUALIFYING ON EDUCATION: You may substitute education for experience for this position. Your education must consist of at least one full year of graduate education or superior academic achievement (S.A.A.) on a 4-year degree. Must be related to the duties of the position. You qualify for the GS-7 level if you meet one of the following S.A.A. criteria in a qualifying field of study. 1. Class Standing – You were in the upper third of the graduating class in your college, university, or major subdivision (e.g., College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration) based on completed courses. 2. Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) – You have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based either on 4 years of education or on the courses you completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum. You have a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher (out of a possible 4.0) in the required courses you completed in your major field or the required courses you completed in your major field during the final 2 years of your curriculum. Note: You should round your grade-point average to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 would be rounded to 3.0 and 2.94 would round to 2.9. 3. Election to Membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society – You can be considered eligible based on membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Education Education may be substituted for specialized experience. If using education to qualify, you must submit transcripts after selection. Additional Information Welcome Veterans.
