New Jersey Resources is seeking a Customer and Community Relations Intern to support the team leading support programs and services in our community. The focus will be on learning how the group works together, and to gain valuable insight and business experience. The ideal candidate will be organized, have excellent communication skills and be motivated to make a real difference. In addition, they will be a relationship builder with an opportunity to meet and work with other employees from across the company.

What you will do:
Bring your enthusiasm and drive and you’ll learn from some of the top talent in the energy industry. You’ll have hands-on experience with your team and the support of our human resources team through this 10-week program. Growing both professionally and personally throughout the program could lead to future post-grad opportunities.
• Help organize a variety of community events, including setup and breakdown.
• Organize employee volunteers
• Screen and research community organizations
• Capture event photos, develop social media content
• Manage databases and input information, data, and records
• Research and gather information related to the department’s work
• Develop PowerPoint presentations
• Attend company functions and community events
• Answer community inquiries and provide basic company information
• Perform various office duties, as needed
What we are looking for:
We’re looking for self-starters who are motivated to learn, grow and take on new challenges. Individuals who are flexible, dependable, work well in varying environments and want to make an impact in your community and your company are welcomed here.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university full time, pursuing an undergraduate degree in communications, education, liberal arts or a related field
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Self-directed and able to work without supervision
• Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills and leadership skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• May require attendance at meetings or events that take place after regular work hours and on weekends
• Available to work full time (40 hours per week) during defined intern program dates (June-August)
• Ability to work hybrid/onsite in the corporate office in Wall, NJ
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
