Summary Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. Responsibilities The duty station for the park is: Kelso or Barstow, CA Performs custodial/janitorial duties: Independently perform the full range of Custodial Worker (Motor Vehicle Operation) duties including the operation and perform minor operator maintenance on light duty vehicles such as pickup trunks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, which typically have an approximate gross weight of up to 10,000 pounds. Lift and move objects over 50 pounds to load, unload, and move supplies, materials and equipment from trucks, trailers, dollies, etc. Perform duties on ladders and/or scaffolds when required. Provides general labor assistance to others in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, roads, trails, etc. Perform full range of cleaning duties in an assigned area following general instructions on the work to be done. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.. You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. Physical Demands: Moderately heavy physical effort is required when: using ladder and scaffolds to clean walls, ceilings, windows, ceilings fixtures; operating powered equipment; removing cans of or other containers of trash; and occasionally lifts objects weighing over 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas, which normally have adequate, heat, light, and ventilation. The incumbent is exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc. Care is required to avoid serious injuries when working on ladders and scaffolds. Grade 2 Custodial Workers usually work indoors, in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation.
