FTE: 0.900000 Shift: Shift 1 Job Summary: The Critical CareTechnician (CCT), under the direction and supervision of a RegisteredNurse, provides delegated age-appropriate care in a culturally andethnically sensitive manner in the Critical Care Units. The CCT assistspatients with the tasks outlined in their clinical competency assessmentrelated to basic nursing skills, personal care skills, basic restorativeservices, and necessary critical care skills. The CCT practices andperforms what was taught during their CNA training and certification orlearned during basic nursing courses at an accredited school forprofessional nurses. The CCT may be asked to provide continuous safetyobservation. This job reports to the Nurse Manager/Assistant NurseManager of the assigned Critical Care Unit and the RNs on duty on eachassigned shift. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: HighSchool diploma or equivalent is required. Incumbents in the positionprior to October 1, 2007, may substitute this educational requirementwith the following statement - Ability to read, write and communicatecomplicated verbal and written communications at a level normallyacquired through completion of a high school education. TRAININGDESCRIPTION: Completion of the Critical Care Tech course or equivalentwithin 6 months of date of hire is required. LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification is required,otherwise must be currently enrolled in a nursing program and able toprovide documentation from an accredited school for professional nursesindicating successful completion of the basic nursing course whichencompass all of the criteria noted by the State of Wisconsinadministrative code and a minimum experience of one acute caremedical/surgical clinical rotation. American Heart Association (AHA)Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approvedequivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
