FT, Crew Chief JamestownA crew leader will be trained as an energy efficient profession that will supervise insulation installers performing retrofitting activities. Training will include classroom training and field experience. Trainees will shadow an energy auditor and senior installer in the field to understand the protocol when interacting with clients and managing staff. Crew leaders will learn the necessary steps to ensure that quality control measures are a part of all work scopes, which includes testing procedures, documentation and how to conduct a thorough walk through inspection to ensure that all work is completed in accordance to program guidelines and the auditors work scope. Training will include knowledge, practice skills and the ability to perform and identify the following: OSHA standards, fall protection, personal protective equipment, respiratory protection power equipment safety, how to identify potential mold, asbestos and lead paint issues. Retrofit techniques, building science knowledge (I.e. heat moisture, pressure flow, ventilation, thermal and pressure boundaries, flooring systems, crawl spaces, roof framing, mechanical systems, air tightening, duct sealing and how to properly insulate crawl spaces, attics, walls, and floors.
