SUMMARY
The Chief Legal Officer for the County. Provides legal advice and representation to the County Commissioners and the various County Departments.
Must have a Juris Doctor Degree;Member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The County Solicitor is the chief legal officer for the County and is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to the County Commissioners and personnel of the County departments which serve under the County Commissioners;```{=html}
```- The County Solicitor manages a full-time staff of attorneys and administrative staff, all of whom comprise the Solicitor's Office;- The Solicitor oversees all litigation on behalf of the County, including matters handled in-house and matters handled by outside counsel;- The Solicitor provides advice and counsel at all meetings of the Board of Commissioners, including, but not limited to the preparation of Commissioners' resolutions;

```- The Solicitor's Office represents the County in assessment appeals filed by taxpayers;

```- The Solicitor's Office is responsible for drafting and approving all contracts entered into by the County;- The Solicitor's Office prepares and/or reviews Real Estate and other transactional documents, including, but not limited to leases entered into by the County;- The County Solicitor or his/her designee sits as legal counsel on numerous Boards and Commissions.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must have a JD Degree;Member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar;At least seven years of experience practicing law with relevant experience;Familiarity with and interest in the County Code, municipal law and government, including an understanding of the Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law and the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act;Excellent abilities of management, communication and persuasion, both oral and written;Excellent abilities of legal analysis and strategy;Excellent negotiating and problem-solving skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
