This Bilingual case manager position in Adult Mental Health serves as the primary case manager for individuals who have a mental illness or intellectual disability and who are involved in the adult criminal justice system. Come join our team and help those in need.
DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe case manager is responsible to advocate and assist consumers in gaining access to needed medical, social, educational and other services. The outcome of these services will focus on integration in the community, vocational/educational participation, and adequate social supports to successfully complete the conditions of their probation. The case manager functions in a team modality to determine the least intrusive and least restrictive method that can be employed in providing the treatment necessary to manage symptoms of mental illness and behavior that result in recovery and wellness and provide protection for the individual served, their family, and the community.
The Bilingual case manager performs miscellaneous duties as required by program design, SPORE Supervisor, Director of Forensic Services and their superiors.
This is a highly responsible supportive counseling/case management position dealing with mentally ill/intellectually disabled persons in the Lehigh County Criminal Justice System. The employee will be assigned to the Forensic Unit (S.P.O.R.E.). The work involves the ability to relate to individuals and families with special needs. The case manager will provide casework and counseling services to aid individuals and families in order to achieve successful completion of community supervision (probation/parole). The work is performed with considerable independence, thought, and judgement while under the direction of a clinical supervisor. This is accomplished through weekly individual conferences, treatment team meetings, and clinical staffing with a licensed psychiatrist and/or psychologist.
This position will require the case manager to be Bi-lingual with the Spanish language.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; orSuccessful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; orA bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; orA bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; orAny equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.Other Requirements:is currently waived for this title.Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Berks, Carbon, Monroe, Northampton, Schuylkill and Lehigh counties.
