JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview The Coordinator, Student Governmentserves as the lead advisor to Marquette University Student Government,which includes oversight of the organization operations as related totheir function within the larger university community, include but isnot limited to budgetary oversight advising; oversight of theirelections; advising the student government executive officers, senate,judicial administrator, elections coordinator, and senior speakercoordinator; advising MUSG\'s student organization funding process; andcoordinating the transitions of officers and operations each academicyear. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Advise student government executiveofficers, which include president, executive vice president, outreachvice president, financial vice president, communications vice president,legislative vice president, programs vice president, and judicialadministrator, providing guidance on their roles and responsibilities.One on one advising meetings (weekly/biweekly) Counsel officers oninterpretation of the MUSG governing documents Perform regular checks ofofficer/senator eligibility. Facilitate leadership developmentopportunities for officers 2. Attend/advise MUSG functional area andcommittee meetings, including: Weekly student organization fundingmeetings Weekly senate meetings Executive board meetings MUSGtraining/retreats Election committee meetings Budget committee meetingsOfficer selection committees Other committees as needed. 3. Overseestudent government fall and spring elections. Advise electionscoordinator Prepare voting list and ballots Counsel election committeeon hearings Certify election results Work with outgoing officers to planinauguration 4. Advise oversight of MUSG budget. Serve as approver forrequisitions and purchases Facilitate purchases for studentorganizations who are approved for up front funding Assist executivevice president and financial vice president with setting the studentorganization funding timeline Provide oversight of and guidance for thefunding reimbursement processes Provide oversight and guidance onmonthly budget reconciliation as prompted by the Office of theComptroller Advise on yearly budget planning, tracking, and expenditures5. Oversee the process to appoint student representatives to universitycommittees (Academic Senate and its committees, committees under theProvost, Student Affairs committees, other departmental committees asneeded). Verify student eligibility (check grades and conduct)Communicate to committee chairs and representatives regardingappointments 6. Keep MUSG timeline of operations on track Assist withofficer transitions Assist with senior speaker processes Assist withstudent government event planning (retreats, info sessions, recognitionprogram, and others as needed). 7. Performs all other duties andresponsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
