Distinguishing Features of the Class: This is responsible work involving the preparation and cooking of food and supervision of personnel in a school lunch program. Work is performed under the general supervision of a School Lunch Director. Immediate supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate food service personnel. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities:
Supervision of total school lunch program personnel in assigned school; May serve lunch to students and teachers;
Supervises the storage and care of food and supplies;
Requisitions foods required to meet production requirements in assigned school;
Performs monthly inventory and controls the usage of all commodities;
Recommends changes in procedures and menus to upgrade the school lunch program;
Assigns work schedules and updates as needed;
Supervises and trains school lunch personnel and fills out personnel evaluation and rating sheets as required;
Calls in approved substitutes when needed;
Prepares payroll report and records;
Supervises the preparation of, and verifies, all department reports;
Maintains a filing system as directed by food service operating procedures;
Notifies the school principal of needed repairs or cleaning;
Maintains all sanitation and safety levels for compliance with requirements of State and local Board of Health Codes;
Supervises and participates in the cleaning of kitchen, serving, storing and dining areas and equipment;
Prepares all monies collected on a daily basis for transmittal to central office;
Prepares and maintains records and reports all of school lunch activities
Job Qualifications
Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
Graduation from high school or possession of high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of full-time satisfactory experience in preparing and serving food. Application Deadline:02/29/2024
