Summary About the position: This position is located at the Misawa Collocated Club of the 35th Force Support Squadron, Misawa AB, Japan. The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of simple cooking tasks. This is a Flexible employment category position; guaranteed 0 hours per week, but may work up to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the facility. Military Spouse Preference IS lost if selected for this position. This position is NOT eligible to receive SOFA status. Responsibilities Performs a full range of simple cooking tasks by preparing and cooking items that require little or no processing such as pancakes, sausage, eggs, hamburgers and fresh or canned vegetables. Prepares hot cereals, broiled meats; prepares and cooks concentrated or dehydrated soups, sauces, and gravies; makes cold sandwich fillings. Prepares convenience items such as frozen hash browns, fish fillets and chicken nuggets. Some cooks at this level prepare and bake pizza. Prepares food by peeling, chopping, grinding, paring, cutting, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring or breading; weighs, measures, and assembles ingredients for regular menu items; sets up and replenishes salad bar; portions foods for distribution and meal service, and covers, dates and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Washes and cleans kitchen equipment. Performs cooking and food preparation utilizing a variety of commercial and industrial kitchen equipment, to include, but not limited to, flat top grills and griddles, food steamers and warmers, pizza oven, salad bar, deep fryers, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, meat slicers, and other related equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned. Continual standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods of time. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background check. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
