About Controls Engineering Technician/Engineering

  *Job Title:              Controls Engineering Technician/ Designer *

  Department:         Engineering

  Reports To:          Controls Engineering Manager

   

   

  SUMMARY:   Assist in the testing, evaluation, and specification of new or existing company products.  Individuals in this position are comfortable working virtually in a CAD, Drawing, or ERP environment as well as with their hands in a testing or production environment.  Controls Engineering Technicians are capable of working independently to accomplish many tasks and often take technical direction from Controls Engineers and managers alike.  This role often serves as a link between the Product Engineering and the shop floor technical activities.

   

  *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *include the following.   Other duties may be assigned. 

  Write, debug, or modify PLC, HMI, PC and other control programs using various softwareCreate bills of material and routings for use in cost estimates and manufacturingCreate owner's manuals, test procedures, and other engineering deliverables as requiredProvide technical support to shop personnel during manufacturingProvide field support of Company products as requiredConduct testing and evaluation of both new products and production products as neededDevelop, document, and conduct training for testing protocols suitable for production environments

   

  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  This job has no direct supervisory responsibility although individuals in this position may be required to provide technical guidance to peers or manufacturing shop staff from time to time.

   

  *QUALIFICATIONS: *

  Working knowledge of NFPA 70, National Electric Code, and NFPA 79, Electrical Standard for Industrial MachineryAbility to troubleshoot electrical control circuitsProficient with AutoCAD, ElectricalCompetent communicator with a wide array of cross functional staff in both office and manufacturing settingsGeneral working knowledge of PLC, HMI, and PC based control hardware and software.   Able to maintain positive and professional relationships with all cross functional team members

   

  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  Associate's Degree in electrical engineering field is required and an additional (1-2) years or relative experience is preferred

   

  LANGUAGE SKILLS

  English as first language.  Good verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings / electrical schematics. 

   

  MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  Proficient in algebra and geometry as is required to solve engineering problems.

   

  COMPUTER SKILLS:

  Proficient with a 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorksProficient with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD, ElectricalProficient with Microsoft ExcelProficient with RS 5000

   

  PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. Employee spends some time on shop floor. The majority of the time will be spent sitting in front of a computer and use of the phone.

   

  WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  Work environment is a pleasant, temperature
