Description Katie Weigel with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is recruiting to fill a Controller position for a entrepreneur with multiple construction companies in Truckee and Reno. This position will start out as hybrid, with 2-3 days per week in office in Truckee. By June, there will be office space in Reno and the person in this role will be based in that space long term. This 4 entity organization needs a Controller to do hands on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, prepare the payroll for the outsourced payroll company, reconciliations, journal entries, WIP/construction project accounting, monthly financials and budgeting. In addition the management of the back office administration to include licensing, insurance, banking, etc. will fall under the purview of the Controller. The company has an actively engaged ownership that have successfully grown their companies and continue to pursue new opportunities. The accounting system is QuickBooks Enterprise.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a small company controller - accustomed to handling the range of transactional accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable) through financial statements, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
Someone who will take ownership of the function, and be an effective communicator with the owners and staff is critical.
QuickBooks experience is a must. At least intermediate Excel skills are required.
A BS Degree in accounting is desirable, but not required
Willingness to commute to Truckee a few days a week for up to 4 months is required. Likely the space in Reno will be available in the Spring.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
QuickBooks Enterprise experience preferred
Proficiency in financial statement preparation
General ledger experience required
Demonstrated knowledge of Construction Cost, and WIP - Work In Progress
Comfortable processing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
General familiarity with variance analysis
Microsoft Excel experience
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field desired, not required
