A prominent services company is looking to grow its team by hiring a Controller through Robert Half. This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the North Charleston, South Carolina area.
Your responsibilities
Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations G/L analysis
Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time
Ensure deliverables of self and team meet client expectations
Analyze, apply and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings collections, and payroll
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful firm-wide operation

Requirements - BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
High attention to detail
Well-founded grasp of bank reconciliations
Proven knowledge of financial reporting
Foundational knowledge in Month-end Reports
Experience with Annual Financial Reporting
General familiarity with cash management
Month end closings experience desired
Deep understanding of Month-end Journal Entries
Knowledge of Month-end Close Activities
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
CPA/MBA preferred
Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
