  Description

  Robert Half is helping a renowned services company find an ambitious candidate to fill the role of a Controller. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Nashville, Tennessee region and requires a CPA.

  Responsibilities

  Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations

  Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

  Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  Requirements - Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  Vow to meet business deadlines

  Solid understanding of CPA

  GAAP Accounting experience required

  Foundational knowledge in financial analysis

  Proficiency in month end closings

  Annual Budget experience

  CPA or MBA preferred

  7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

  Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

  BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  Excellent oral and written communication skills

  Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
