Robert Half is looking for an ambitious, eager Controller to join the team at a well-respected services company. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will be planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Mills River, North Carolina region.
Key responsibilities
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Requirements
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Vow to meet business deadlines
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Deep understanding of ADP - Payroll
Knowledge of Financial Management
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
