  What does the role look like?

  We’re currently recruiting in our Contracts team here in Wolverhampton. The ideal candidate will be a high potential individual that will provide day-to-day advice, expertise, support and guidance to colleagues across the Actuation Systems sites in respect of contractual matters, taking a solution focused approach to business problems and providing a risk-based analysis of options available.

  We're open to experience but you will have a background in either (i) private practice legal experience, (ii) already in a Contracts role or (iii) have experience in drafting contracts & negotiation. We’re open to a variation of experience as we are ready to invest & develop the right candidate.

  What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  Responsible for the drafting, negotiation, and management of new agreements and contract clauses in line with corporate guidelines.

  Conduct contracts risk and opportunity analysis

  Assist, lead and support during customer negotiations and decision making including, but not limited to, escalating subjects to senior management when required for resolution.

  Lead contractual aspects of negotiation when required across the business.

  Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to corporate Collins processes, policies, and approval of contracts, leading the approvals required for the Legal, Contracts & Compliance function.

  Where disputes over contract terms arise, provide expert advice and support to the team in terms of interpretation of contractual requirements. Be a Contracts focal to the internal team for all claims and assertions (warranty, transport, shop processing time and freight, damages) made by and to the business, ensuring the business positions are mitigated and maximized (where applicable) to the greatest extent possible

  Work with internal and external legal counsel on specific projects as and when they arise across the sites to ensure the business risk position is minimized to the maximum extent possible

  Provide the business with clear and coherent advice to mitigate its corresponding contractual risks.

  Work with the business teams (Legal, Program Management, Business Development, Finance, Engineering, Senior Leadership across the sites to ensure appropriate contractual requirements are included in business cases.

  Work with the Supply Chain Contracts teams across the sites to align on contract symmetry where possible.

  Be able to negotiate contracts in English, in verbal and written form.

  Review, approve, and sign contracts, letters, etc.

  Approve Business Case objectives in line with Approval Authority and other Compliance aspects of the business.

  Collaborate within the Integrated Project Team (IPT) supporting the business needs.

  Essential skills:

  Excellent interpersonal skills which you can demonstrate

  Proven attention to detail with due dilligence followed at all times

  Previous experience or exposure to negogiation, drafting of contracts, legal

  Desirable skills:

  Excellent proficiency in negotiating with third parties, with a track record of obtaining contractually beneficial positions for the business ensuring its interests are well protected.

  High attention to detail in monitoring compliance and ensuring the flow down and communication of supply chain contractual requirements.

  Experience in communicating and presenting to senior leadership teams internally on an ad-hoc basis.

  Ability to drive improvements and strategy initiatives to improve the methods of working within a Contracts function.
