Responsibilities
The Compensation Consultant collaborates with HR and business leaders as a trusted business advisor on all compensation related strategies, programs, processes and policies. The Compensation Consultant listens to understand the market’s business challenges and provides thought leadership and brings best practice compensation solutions within approved budget parameters and enterprise standards with the objective to attract and retain associates.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing and managing client relationships with market business leaders, HR and additional stakeholders. Serves as the subject matter expert on compensation related matters. Listens to understand market challenges and provides thought leadership on compensation related matters. Researches concerns brought forward by stakeholders to identify trends in information versus isolated occurrences. Participates in complex client conversations to help identify potential solutions which may or may not require compensation solutions.
Performs the role of liaison for the larger compensation team by sharing market challenges with dedicated compensation market team and broader compensation team. Provides insight to potential compensation solutions to explore. Collaborates with other dedicated market teams to share market challenges and co-create compensation solutions.
Mindful to work with labor relations when solutions either impact current or future collective bargaining agreements. Recommends compensation approaches and methods in advance of and during contract negotiation.
Leads dedicated market team’s daily work assignments by ensuring team: has the information and direction needed to explore scenarios, model potential solutions, and deliver agreed upon projects; has reasonable project deadlines; established deadlines met; ensures job evaluations and market analysis are complete and thorough according to established methodologies; work products delivered to the markets have been through a quality review audit; provides performance coaching and feedback to direct reports; identifies development opportunities to continue to learn and build individual and team competencies; meet customer expectations and appropriately escalate challenges. Responsible for formal people leader responsibilities including quarterly check-ins, performance evaluations and coaching and development.
Researches market conditions including compensation trends, HR analytics including but not limited to turnover, offers made and accepted, premium compensation programs and paid practices, available labor available in the market to identify proactive compensation solutions that are aligned with the talent strategy, ministry strategy, and organization policy. Uses data and established methodologies in everyday decision making. Able to decipher patterns, translate internal and external market data into useful insights, formulate insights and communicate findings to market team members and stakeholders. Builds business cases to support compensation solutions based on well researched data that focus on delivering established compensation strategies and provides an accountability and feedback loop for solution effectiveness.
Collaborates with internal resources to design compensation solutions utilizing approved methodologies for data analysis, national job architecture framework, salary ranges, geographic analysis, national pay policies, and budget parameters. Builds and implements harmonized compensation solutions supported within technology capabilities. Collaborates with communications to build market based communication and change management plans.
Participates in national committees including SWIM activities within the assigned market as a compensation subject matter expert to help utilize established compensation programs, policies, understand disruption impact, or co-create new programs and/or policies to meet the changing needs of the organization.
Requirements
Education:
High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience:
5 years of experience required.
10 years of experience preferred.
