Job Overview
Support Health Economics (PE modelling) team and assist in end-to-end delivery of projects in Europe, Middle East, India, APAC and US. The candidate is expected to design and develop (programming) a variety of models for economic evaluation either for HTA submissions or value messaging. Typical projects include budget impact analysis models and cost-effectiveness analysis models (such as: Markov, decision tree, partitioned survival) and could potentially include conducting survival analyses.
Essential Functions
• Design and develop health economic decision-analytic models to undertake either budget impact analysis or cost-effectiveness/cost-utility analysis, including decision tree, Markov, partitioned survival models
• Program models in appropriate software, including Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and R
• Conduct survival analysis and basic statistical analysis (such as descriptive statistics, regression analysis) using R
• Develop project deliverables such as model analysis plan(s), technical reports and user guides
• Act as a technical advisor/ lead for junior members in the team on country specific adaptations, across multiple projects, providing support and advice to team members, and conducting internal validation and quality control
• Assist in the dissemination of findings through articles, posters and presentations
• Support development of global modelling materials, processes and methodology with HE Modelling Centre of Excellence.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent in Health economics/Public health with major in health economics. OR Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, statistics, mathematics, engineering, pharmacy with training in Health Economics
Good knowledge of health economics
• Have 3-5 years of actual hands-on experience of working on pharmaco-economic models (PE models) including budget impact models and cost-effectiveness/ cost-utility models. The candidate should have worked on both local adaptations of global models and de-novo models. Work done on models should include:
o Familiarity with literature review for model inputs and model concept
o Programming the model in Microsoft Excel (incorporating VBA as required)
Includes conducting sensitivity analysis – both one-way sensitivity analysis (OWSA) and Probabilistic Sensitivity Analysis (PSA)
Familiarity with TreeAge Software would be good to have though not essential
o Performing quality check of excel based PE models
o Conducting survival analysis – experience with survival analysis would be good to have though not essential
Experience within consultancy, CRO or other service sector in the healthcare industry is desirable
Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn quickly and independently
Strong time management and organisational skills, and flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent attention to detail and ability to check own work
Good English written and verbal communication skills
