Casella Construction, Inc., located in Pittsford, VT seeks sixteen (16)full-time, temporary Construction Laborers who will be responsible forperforming tasks involving physical labor at construction sites.Prepares tools and materials for the construction site as directed bySuperintendent or Foreman. May operate a wide variety of hand and powertools: air hammers, earth tampers, drills, cement mixers, and a varietyof other equipment and instruments. May dig trenches, be a spotter forequipment operators, and clean up rubble, debris, and other wastematerials. May assist other craft workers. Sets up surveying andmeasuring equipment as directed by the supervisor.
Will report directly to Construction Superintendent or Foreman atCasella Construction Inc.
One (1) year of experience in construction labor required.
Applicants must complete pre-employment drug screening.
All worksites are located in the towns of Killington, Middlebury,Bennington, and Townshend in Vermont. Occasional travel throughout thisarea is required. Workers are assigned to one worksite and rarely travelbetween worksites. Travel is rarely required for more than one hour perday. When travel is required, transportation between worksites isprovided.
Daily transportation to and from worksite is provided.
On-the-job training is provided.
Wage: \$20.37 \$28.08 per hour, paid weekly. Overtime is available at\$30.56 - \$42.12 per hour.
Schedule: 40 hours per week. The work schedule can vary and may includeevening, weekend, and holiday hours. Work may be performed on any day ofthe week from Monday through Sunday. Example shifts: 7:00am 3:00pm, or6:00pm-2:00am. Shift hours may vary.
A single workweek will be used to compute wages due.
Optional housing is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis forworkers who are relocating to begin employment. Cost of housing,including utilities, if accepted, is \$125.00 per week. If used, totalcost of housing will be deducted from paycheck.
All deductions from paycheck required by law will be made.
If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer willpay directly for and/or reimburse workers for transportation andsubsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Uponcompletion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissedearlier, employer will provide or pay for workers reasonable costs ofreturn transportation and subsistence back home or to the place theworker originally departed to work, except where the worker will notreturn due to subsequent employment with another employer. The employerwill pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for all reasonableinbound transportation and subsistence costs within the first workweek.The employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for allreasonable outbound transportation and subsistence costs during the lastworkweek. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will beequal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for thedistances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of\$15.46 per day during travel to a maximum of \$59.00 per day withreceipts.
The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least threefourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employmentperiod.
The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, andequipment required to perform the job.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visaprocessing, border crossing, and other related fees, including thosemandated by government (excluding passport fees).
