Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an experienced Senior Civil/Process Mechanical Construction Resident Project Representative to oversee and manage construction activities for improvements to a wastewater treatment facility. This position will be based out of our Fort Myers office and will involve travelling to and working from a construction site in Collier County, Florida. It is envisaged that the successful applicant will initially be part of an AECOM team providing construction services during the execution of a multi-million dollar new pretreatment facility. The qualified applicant will have extensive construction industry experience overseeing the construction of large water/wastewater/water reuse projects in a collaborative project delivery platform. The Ideal candidate will have the primary responsibility for monitoring and observing the quality of construction for compliance with the construction documents, as well as applicable codes and regulations. On-site work activities will include excavation, soil disposal, dewatering, relocation of buried utilities, installation of pile foundations, concrete work, and installation of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
The successful candidate will be expected to be collaborative, have a high level of initiative and motivation to deliver quality results, have strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to provide value-added solutions and maintain strong relationships.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
Coordinate with the client and the project construction contractor during construction of the project(s).
Provide inspection for surveillance of Civil, and Process Mechanical work during construction of wastewater treatment improvements, to include earthwork activities, structural works, paving, electrical, SCADA, and Instrumentation and Control and complex wastewater treatment equipment.
Evaluate materials and workmanship and monitor daily for compliance with the construction contract documents and with applicable codes and regulations.
Participate in pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, and other project meetings as required.
Record construction progress though diaries, daily, weekly, and monthly construction progress reports, photographs, telephone conversation logs, etc.
Maintain appropriate field records to document actual or potential disputes or claims.
Assist the Owners Site Representative in validating work performed in addition to meeting with the contractors on a monthly basis to determine percent completion.
Provide recommendations through schedule analysis of options for mitigating delays
Observe and report on planned critical path activities not occurring.
Assist in documenting schedule conflicts, delays and work disruptions that impact the schedule completion dates.
Track and document unplanned field construction activities.
Observe that non-conformance work is being corrected in accordance with written and approved instructions.
Review monthly schedule narrative for accuracy
Determine that installed work is in accordance with approved submittals.
Advise the Owners Site Representative of issues and resolution options available with minimal time or cost impacts.
Observe and record Contractor’s testing and QA/QC activities, as well as operations or performance testing.
Observe implementation of health and safety procedures and practices.
Provide input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.
Support development of accident reporting and other documentation.
Participate in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
Participate in final inspection and prepare a written certification documenting the conformance of the completed construction contracts to the approved contract drawings, specifications, addenda and change orders.
Review contractors’ As-Built drawings monthly to ensure that adequate records are being kept.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS Degree + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
4 years of experience on water/wastewater treatment plant construction site
OSHA-30 Certified for Construction
Must have knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, including USEPA, FDEP, SFWMD, and state/local regulations.
Must have experience of construction materials and methods used in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
4 years experience with construction management software.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain one ( as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review )
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Construction Management
Large water/wastewater construction experience on projects with values over $25 million
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate and collaborate with contractors, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Proficiency in WORD, EXCEL, and SharePoint, in addition to Document Control Systems.
Experience as either member of Owners Advisor or Construction Management team
Senior Inspection Role overseeing civil and complex MEP work

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $70,222.96 - $129,912.47.
