  We will consider Engineer levels I through IV. The following is the salary range for each level:

  Salary Ranges:

  E ngineer I: $62,400.00 - $96,096.00 Annualized

  Engineer II: $70,096.00 - $107,972.80 Annualized

  Engineer III: $78,707.20 - $126,713.60 Annualized

  Engineer IV: $88,483.20 - $142,459.20 Annualized

  Typically, selected candidates are hired at a salary rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

  Position Summary

  Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for performing engineering work associated with system construction, maintenance and protection of Grant PUD’s transmission and distribution infrastructure with a focus on reliability, safety, efficiency, and adherence to general engineering best practices.

  Job Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  GENERAL

  Review engineering work requests to determine scope, cost, and justification for the work request;

  Prepare technical specifications

  Build material lists

  Generating new drawings or revise existing drawings,

  Inspecting equipment in the field, reviewing technical data outputs of various pieces of equipment, and analyzing variations from original designs

  Coordinate and conduct engineering and other studies, projects, and systems;

  Develop, implement, and coordinate procedures, functions, and activities

  Analyze system requirements; perform calculations required to verify system integrity

  Specify equipment, work with vendors, and obtain quotes as needed.

  Research and analyze technical information and data in order to prepare reports.

  Manage proper documentation, mapping, and safety planning for all aspects of Grant PUD’s infrastructure from hydro-electric facilities, power production infrastructure, or power delivery assets; ensure all documentation is properly stored in Grant PUD’s engineering application databases.

  Function as main point of contact with various internal and external stakeholders ensuring proper relationship development and communication policies are followed during all interactions; oversee contractors and consultants performing engineering work.

  Perform site inspections; meet with contract personnel, Grant PUD Employees, and other representatives to resolve problems and concerns and answer questions on issues/projects; assist with field inspections of projects for conformance to approved plans.

  Perform increasingly more responsible work as the employee gains experience and independently performs engineering duties.

  Train in the formulation of budgets for projects including planning, design, regulatory, and construction phases.

  Perform Project Management under the direction of the Supervisor on small/simple projects in accordance with District standards

  Prepare Project scopes

  Prepare estimates and project budgets

  Provide project justifications

  Access project risks

  Maintain project schedules

  Perform related duties as required or assigned.

  Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and

  Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance.

  Specific Job Responsibilities

  Power Delivery Construction and Maintenance Electrical Engineer- Specialty: Maintenance Engineer

  This position is responsible to assess, monitor, analyze and address all substation equipment and systems under Construction and Maintenance (C&M) jurisdiction.

  Develop and maintain a productive partnership with peers in Power Delivery Engineering, Dispatch, and other PUD departments

  Develop a strong partnership with Asset Management in evaluating system equipment needs and providing data to our replacement/maintenance programs for power and fiber equipment.

  Provide operational input and expertise to Power Delivery Engineering on the development of engineering standards, guidelines, studies, calculations and specifications associated with power/fiber system protection.

  Develop Work Standards and Guidelines for the work activities performed by Construction and Maintenance crews.

  Evaluate and study the effective use of new tools or equipment that supports C&M work.

  Review relay test data performed by maintenance crews against setting supplied by PDE. Ensure all testing meets PUD and regulator requirements.

  Support, track and report all required information for our regulators and PUD compliance organizations as it relates to C&M activities. This includes NERC And WECC where you may support as a Standards Owner.

  Review breaker, transformer and disconnect maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation of the fiber/power system.

  Ensure documentation on test data, Work Standards, and other important information related to C&M activity is maintained properly.

  Function as a main point of contact for C&M in the area of system protection with various internal and external customers

  Work in partnership with C&M workforce, dispatch, PDE, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve power/fiber system issues.

  Assist field crews in inspecting equipment in the field, reviewing and interpreting technical data for various equipment, and analyzing variations from manufacturers or design specifications.

  Provide reports and status updates on field issues and construction as needed by Senior Management.

  Serve as the PD – C&M liaison and providing field input to resolve real time outage issues

  Recommend and partner with Standards as needed as the C&M subject matter experts.

  Actively support and participate in Power Quality of our Distribution System through evaluation and correction of power quality issues including problems with harmonic distortion, irrigation pump changes, voltage flicker, over/under voltage issues, system imbalances, under frequency and more.

  Develop strategies in partnership with PDE to develop solutions, technical reports, and documentation for Power Quality that includes calculations, financial improvements, prints and other information as necessary.

  Work as a field representative on new construction projects of various sizes on the power and fiber system.

  Assist in the development of training for craft workers as required.

  Minimum Job Requirements

  Educational/Experience Requirements

  BS Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.

  Knowledge and Skills

  Extensive knowledge of – Concepts, principles, theories, and methods surrounding engineering industry standards and best practices; project management tools and techniques; technical competencies with an attention toward detail; financial management philosophies.

  Skill in – problem solving; written and oral interpersonal communication; workflow and time management; utilizing MS office products; GIS and AutoCAD software, tools, and applications.

  Special Requirements

  A valid State driver’s license may be required.

  A Washington State Engineering in Training Certification recommended.

  Physical/Mental Requirements

  Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting (70%), with some field work that may require operation of a vehicle (30%).
